On 4 August 2025, the Excel Education Initiative Dukku (E.E.I.D) held a full-day orientation program to mark the commencement of the new academic session. The program’s central theme was career guidance and academic readiness, aimed at equipping students with information, motivation and practical steps they can take to make informed choices about their educational and career paths.

Program focus & format

The orientation combined short keynote talks, panel-style guidance from experienced professionals, interactive Q&A sessions, and small-group breakouts led by E.E.I.D tutors. The content focused on:

  • Understanding subject choices and how they relate to careers
  • Practical academic tips for the session (study planning, time management, exam preparation)
  • Professional pathways — law, education, engineering, medical and allied fields
  • How to access local academic support and mentorship through E.E.I.D

  • Malama Sa’adatu Haruna
    Principal, Government Comprehensive Day Secondary School (G.C.D.S.) Dukku Central

    Malama Sa’adatu opened the session with a practical talk on school readiness and the importance of disciplined study habits. She emphasized the role of principals, teachers and parents in building a supportive learning environment and encouraged students to set short- and long-term academic goals.

  • Barrister Yusuf Abubakar Hashidu
    Legal Practitioner & Career Guide

    Barrister Yusuf delivered an inspiring career-guidance keynote that explained how diverse academic choices can lead to careers in law, public service, and other professions. He focused on personal discipline, ethical conduct, and the value of foundational subjects such as English and Civic Education.

    Excel Education Initiative Dukku — Academic Team

    The E.E.I.D tutors led interactive breakouts, short revision workshops, and weekly study-plan templates for students. Tutors also conducted mini-assessments to help students identify strengths and areas for improvement for the upcoming session.
